This trip began in Kobe where I stayed a few days at Miyuki and M.Fuji House. I met their son Daisuke a few weeks later in Tokyo. 今回の旅の出発点となったのは神戸。富士さん夫婦の家に数日お世話になりました。息子の大輔君とは数週間後に東京で会いました。僕は数年前、神戸に来たことがあったので、今回は奥さんの美由紀さんが四国を案内してくれることになりました。僕の友人ノブと彼女の梨里子さんも同行しました。将来、僕はこの小さな島にある８８の寺を巡礼したいと思っています。僕たちは四国巡礼の出発点である、徳島県の札所一番霊山寺に立ち寄りました。この寺を見て、僕はいつか札所巡りをすることを心に決めたのです。
À la recherche d’une expérience bien unique au Japon, j’ai tenté ma chance dans un restaurant de sushi, ayant déjà habité la région voilà quelques années, j’ai demandé l’aide à un de mes ami, M.Ekida qui me présenta aux membres de la famille Uchida dont le restaurant jouit d’une bonne réputation dans la ville de Masuda (préfecture de Shimane). C’est donc en ce début septembre que je commençai mon expérience à Sushi Mai, qui signifie le sushi dansant.
While spending a few weeks in a city on the countryside where I lived a few years ago, I looked for a very particular experience in Japan: I asked a friend to help me find a sushi restaurant who would put a foreigner to work for a few days. My friend, M. Ekida, introduce me to the Uchida family, who owns a famous sushi restaurant in Masuda. So early in September, I started working at Sushi Mai, which means the dancing sushi.
僕は、数年前に住んでいた日本の田舎町で、あることを体験したいと思っていました。そこで、友人に頼み、外国人を数日間働かせてくれる寿司屋を探してもらったのです。友人のエキダさんは、島根県益田市で有名な寿司屋を営んでいる内田さん家族を紹介してくれました。９月上旬、僕は「踊る寿司」という意味の『寿司舞』で働き始めました。
